3DxVERSE Showcased at the 16th ITS European Congress in Seville

📅 Date & Time: May 19–21, 2025
📍 Location: Seville, Spain

The 16th ITS European Congress, held from 19–21 May 2025 in Seville, brought together more than 3,500 mobility leaders, policymakers, researchers, and industry innovators under the theme "Clean, Resilient and Connected Mobility." As Europe’s leading event on intelligent transport systems (ITS), the congress provided a dynamic platform to explore and demonstrate groundbreaking solutions shaping the future of sustainable mobility.

During the congress, 3DxVERSE was highlighted as a pioneering example of how advanced digital technologies can transform urban and transport ecosystems. By integrating 3D digital twins, artificial intelligence, and extended reality, 3DxVERSE offers a powerful, open-source framework to optimize urban mobility and airport operations. Among its applications, the project enables real-time monitoring and visualization of aircraft carbon emissions, supporting climate targets for airports and airlines, while also enhancing urban planning and community engagement.

Aligned with the European Green Deal, the New European Bauhaus, and Europe’s Digital Decade objectives, 3DxVERSE embodies a collaborative and ethical approach to data-driven mobility innovation. The project underscores the importance of transparency, cross-sector partnerships, and community involvement in building greener, smarter, and more inclusive transport systems.

We had the opportunity to connect with industry leaders, explore cutting-edge ITS technologies, and participate in thought-provoking sessions that are shaping the future of smart and sustainable transport.

Our project was proudly featured in:
SIS 55: CitiVERSE – Global Data Space Interoperability for Sustainable Travel and Mobility
Dr. Antonio J. Jara opened the session with an insightful introduction to the CitiVERSE initiative, emphasizing the strategic importance of Local Digital Twins (LDT-DS) in enabling sustainable urban transformation across Europe.

The session then spotlighted several impactful use cases:
SENSE project: A local digital twin application where AI-driven data enabled the creation of a low-emission zone with minimal constraints in Cartagena, presented by Dr. Antonio J. Jara.
3DxVERSE: Presented by Gino Schwengle and Harm Jan Arendshorst, showcasing how digital twin technology can drive greener, more efficient mobility systems.
AIAMO – Artificial Intelligence and Mobility Project: Presented by Thomas Trabert, leveraging urban data from the city of Leibniz to support sustainable planning.
FTI4ALL Project Use Cases: Introduced by André Perpey, focusing on cross-border data control for freight and hazardous materials between France and Germany.
This session was organised and moderated by Eusebiu Catana from ERTICO – ITS Europe.

In addition, the project was featured in two Technical Paper sessions:

These sessions reinforced the importance of ethical, interoperable, and citizen-centric digital infrastructure in building the smart cities of tomorrow.
